SUMMARY:"Grafted Roots" Webber Gallery Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:This exhibition is the first solo curated show of Ocala resident David Campo III. David earned his Bachelor of Arts in anthropology in 2017 from the University of Florida and later earned a Master of Arts in art history from the University of Georgia and a Master of Arts in museum studies from the University of Florida. He has been published in various exhibition catalogs and has co-curated other exhibitions. \nThe theme “grafted roots” refers to the agricultural technique of grafting sweet orange branches onto sour orange roots to increase resiliency to the elements. Similarly\, all the artists featured in this show are transplanted from their original homes\, be it from a different country\, state or town. While the artists share a geographic connection\, they convey a variety of unique talents and expressions. \nOpen to the public\, the exhibition will be on view 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday\, May 20-Thursday\, July 18 at the Webber Gallery. An opening reception will be held Friday\, May 31 at 6 p.m. \nTopics and concepts presented at this event are for discussion purposes only and are not intended to espouse\, promote\, advance\, inculcate\, or compel individuals to believe the topics or concepts presented therein. Nor do they constitute endorsement of such topics or concepts by the College of Central Florida\, its Board of Trustees\, or any of their officers\, employees\, or agents.
