DESCRIPTION:The community is invited to explore the “Michael Mallard: Recent Works” exhibition at the Webber Gallery on view 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday\, Feb. 17\, – Wednesday\, March 12.  \nAn artisit and an educator\, Mallard’s still life paintings  explore themes of identity\, place and experience. His work often blends everyday objects and symbolic imagery\, and it invites viewers to reflect on the beauty and complexity of the American Southeast. \nAn opening reception for this exhibit is on Wednesday\, March 12 from 12:30 – 1:30 p.m. at the Webber Gallery. \nTopics and concepts presented at this event are for discussion purposes only and are not intended to espouse\, promote\, advance\, inculcate\, or compel individuals to believe the topics or concepts presented therein. DESCRIPTION:The CF Debra Vasquez Memorial Poetry Series will host professor and award-winning author David Kirby. A writer and poet\, Kirby will offer two reading/signings at the College of Central Florida’s Ocala Campus\, 3001 S.W. College Road. The readings will take place Wednesday\, Feb. 19\, at 12:30 p.m. in the Humanities and Social Sciences Building (Building 8\, Room 110) on the Ocala Campus and at 7 p.m. at the Webber Center. \nThe reading is free and open to the public. \nKirby\, author of 30+ poetry and essay books\, has won multiple Pushcart Prizes\, the Brittingham Prize and fellowships from Guggenheim and NEA. He also received the Florida Book Award and Millennium Cultural Recognition Award.
