DESCRIPTION:The College of Central Florida’s Ira Holmes International Film Series is excited to present this year’s season of films. \nFilm Series Special Event: Meet the Calendar Girls at the Appleton Museum. \nCome and celebrate Free First Saturday at the Appleton Museum and see the Calendar Girls of Southwest Florida perform. Admission is free on the first Saturday of every month. The Calendar Girl will perform on the Appleton Museum steps at 11 a.m. and noon. Film to play after performances. \nA feel-good dance documentary directed and produced by Swedish filmmakers Maria Loohufvud and Love Martinsen. The love of dance and glitter bonds an unlikely group of 60-plus women in southwest Florida – The Calendar Girls. But under the veil of fake lashes and unicorn horns lurks the deeper truths of what again women face within society. Sisterhood\, love\, and loss – all come into play in this uplifting film about trying to age on your own terms and refuse to become invisible. \nFilms may contain mature content.  \nFilm Trailer

Armed with an overactive imagination and a ragtag gaggle of friends\, Ria concocts an outlandish heist to protect her sister’s independence. This playful\, action-pack coming-of-age comedy mixes elements from Bollywood and martial arts genres to create a fun-filled girl-power film that is perfect for Women’s History Month. \n
