SUMMARY:Film Series at the Marion - Family Friendly Matinee
DESCRIPTION:The College of Central Florida’s Ira Holmes International Film Series presents a full season of films\, film talks and special events. \nThis is a special family friendly event held at the Marion Theatre\, 50 S Magnolia Ave\, Ocala\, FL 34471. Red ballons will be given out to children in attendance while supplies last. \nAll films will be shown Tuesdays at 2 p.m. at the Appleton Museum of Art\, 4333 E. Silver Springs Blvd.\, Ocala\, and at 7 p.m. at the College of Central Florida\, 3001 S.W. College Road\, Building 8\, Room 110\, unless otherwise noted. Films at the Ocala Campus are free and open to the public. Films at the Appleton are free to all museum and film series members; nonmembers pay museum admission. Films may contain mature content. \nAbout the Films\n \n“The Red Balloon”(NR\, France\, 1956\, 34 minutes) \nA grade school staple for generations\, this classic short film by Albert Lamorisse\, is a love letter to Paris that elegantly captures the adventures of a boy who befriends a seemingly sentient balloon that follows him through the Paris streets. \n \n“A Cat in Paris”(PG\, France\, 1956\, 1 hour\, 10 minutes) \nThe Academy Award® nominated A Cat in Paris from directors Jean-Loup Felicioli and Alain Gagnol is a beautifully hand-drawn caper set in the shadow-drenched alleyways of Paris. Dino is a cat that leads a double life. By day he lives with Zoe\, a little girl whose mother is a detective in the Parisian police force. But at night Dino sneaks out the window to work with Nico – a slinky cat burglar with a big heart\, whose fluid movements are poetry in motion as he evades captors and slips and swishes from rooftop to rooftop across the Paris skyline. \nFor a full series list and more information on the Ira Holmes International Film Series\, contact Wendy Adams at 352-873-5800\, ext. 1546\, or visit www.CF.edu/filmseries.
