Dorr is Associate Director and Senior Research Scientist at The Florida Institute for Human and Machine Cognition (IHMC) and Professor of Computer Science at both University of West Florida and University of Florida. \nFor 38 years\, she has been conducting research in artificial intelligence\, most notably human-centered computing\, deep language understanding\, and most recently\, Cyber NLP (Natural Language Processing). \nDr. Dorr’s vision for “AI and the Future” is computerized understanding of “what’s inside people’s heads” from social media\, i.e.\, attitudes and intentions regarding critical issues such as mask wearing attitudes that may effect changes in public health guidance. \nDr. Dorr is a Sloan Fellow\, an NSF Presidential Faculty Fellow\, former President of the Association for Computational Linguistics (2008)\, Fellow of the Association for Advancement of Artificial Intelligence (2013)\, Fellow of the Association for Computational Linguistics (2016)\, and Fellow of the Association for Computing Machinery (2021).

CF is offering scholarships for short-term\, in-demand programs intended to address the negative economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. You may qualify for free tuition and books.\nThe programs – which align with open positions in high-demand\, high-wage jobs in our region – include Accounting Technology Specialist\, Computer Information Data Specialist\, Lean Six Sigma Green Belt\, and Logistics and Transportation Specialist. The College Credit Certificate programs are for entry level students\, range from 9 to 12 credits and can be completed in 18 weeks or less. Most are available fully online\nJoin us for this virtual information session to learn more! Prior experience also includes working as Counsel to the Florida Board of Regents Office of Human Resources and Labor Relations and Administrative Hearings Officer to the Florida Department of Labor and Employment Security. \nJulie earned her Juris Doctor degree\, cum laude\, from Suffolk University Law School and her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Virginia.
