DESCRIPTION:As part of “The Patriot Project: Bringing History to Life” and Latin History Month\, Wendy Adams\, Professor of Humanities and Social Sciences\, will screen “Latin History for Morons.” In this one-man Broadway show\, John Leguizamo finds humor and heartbreak as he traces 3\,000 years of Latin history in an effort to help his bullied son. General Bernardo Galvez’s (from Spain)\, who Leguizamo describes as the “George Washington of Texas\, Louisiana\, and Pensacola\,” personal financing of the war effort and command of army comprised of Puerto Ricans\, Cubans and Mexican that help win American Revolutionary War is highlighted. Hailed by Chicago Tribune’s Chris Jones as “a genuinely brilliant piece of popular\, political theater\,” this is a must see for students\, educators\, and the general public. \nThe event will be held in 8-110 on Wednesday\, Oct. 12\, from 12:30-1:30 p.m. The event is free.
