DESCRIPTION:Join the Student Activities Board in the Learning Resources Center (Building 3) for a Women’s History open mic event at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday\, March 1. \nStudents are encouraged to share their art\, read poems\, sing and otherwise express themselves. $10 Chick-Fil-A gift cards will be give away to those that share. Cliff’s Café will also provide a slice of pie in honor of Pi Day and hot tea/coffee for the first 100 students.\nThis open mic will feature former SAB Member and published poet Jessyca Thibault who will share some of her poetry. SUMMARY:Performance Anxiety Workshop
DESCRIPTION:CF students and community members are invited to attend a free presentation\, “Winning the Mental Game: The Simple Solution to Overcoming Performance Anxiety\,” on Wednesday\, March 8\, 12:30-1:30 p.m. in the Webber Center on the Ocala Campus or virtually via Zoom. \nNicholas Pallesen\, mental performance specialist and Juilliard-trained opera singer\, will lead the virtual session. He specializes in helping performing artists succeed\, both onstage and off\, and regularly offers workshops relating to the psychology of performance. Not just for performances and auditions\, Pallesen’s strategies can help all attendees with everyday communication. \nThis simulcast workshop is free and open to the public. Light refreshments and event giveaways will be provided. The lecture is funded by the Mr. and Mrs. Seymour B. Robinson Memorial Endowed Chair. Co-chairholders Dr. Sarah Satterfield and Associate Professor Lori Witkowich have used this chair to explore how music was used to reduce feelings of social isolation in the wake of COVID-19\, and how music can be used to alleviate performance and test anxiety and improve reading comprehension. \n

DESCRIPTION:When an EMS system gets a call with multiple people hurt\, it requires a means to sort the most severely injured or sick patients and provide those who are more severe more expeditious transport to a medical facility or higher level of care.  CF’s Mass Casualty Incident event helps train our students how to do basic triage (sorting of the sick / injured) and shows the flow of patients from the scene to hospitals or care facilities in the area. College Road. \nDunning promotes science literacy and critical thinking and is the host and producer of the “Skeptoid” podcast\, one of the longest running and most popular independent science podcasts. He is the writer and producer of the documentary films “Here Be Dragons\,” “Principles of Curiosity” and “Science Friction.” The former computer scientist hosts the science video series “inFact with Brian Dunning” and has authored seven books including “Conspiracies Declassified.”    \nBoth sessions are free and open to the public\, and Dunning will sign books following each presentation. This program is made possible by a grant from Bank of America.
