DESCRIPTION:Join us for a session with science witer Brian Dunning as he gives two presentations of his “We Are All Conspiracy Theorists” talk. Sessions are on Tuesday\, March 28\, at 7 p.m. at the CF Webber Center and Wednesday\, March 29\, at 12:30 p.m. in Building 8\, Room 110. Both locations are on the CF Ocala Campus\, 3001 S.W. College Road. \nDunning promotes science literacy and critical thinking and is the host and producer of the “Skeptoid” podcast\, one of the longest running and most popular independent science podcasts. He is the writer and producer of the documentary films “Here Be Dragons\,” “Principles of Curiosity” and “Science Friction.” The former computer scientist hosts the science video series “inFact with Brian Dunning” and has authored seven books including “Conspiracies Declassified.”    \nBoth sessions are free and open to the public\, and Dunning will sign books following each presentation. This program is made possible by a grant from Bank of America.

DESCRIPTION:Join us for a unique presentation as we host entrepreneur-artist Eric Ducharme for “The Makings of a Mertailor” on Wednesday\, March 29\, 12:30-1:30 p.m. in the Charles S. Dean Sr. Educational Center at the Wilton Simpson Citrus Campus\, 3800 S. Lecanto Highway\, Lecanto.  \nDucharme started his now-thriving mermaid couture business when he was 14 years old\, after making mermaid tails “out of anything he could find” as a kid who “wanted to be a merman” since visiting Weeki Wachee Springs as a preschooler. Today\, at age 27\, he has created whimsical mermaid tails for celebrities including Lady Gaga and his tails have appeared in films\, television shows\, commercials and music videos. \nThe presentation is free and the public is welcome. After the presentation\, attendees will be invited to view an exhibit of Ducharme’s work. This exhibit will be on view March 29-April 28 on the upper level of Building 2 on the CF Wilton Simpson Citrus Campus. The building is open Monday-Friday\, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

DESCRIPTION:Join us on Wednesday\, April 12 at 12:30 p.m. in the Webber gallery for an artist talk with artist Nicholas Kalemba\, who will talk about his art practice and the UCF Visual Arts Program. Kalemba is the judge of “the 2023 Student Art Exhibiton” which will be open Monday\, March 27-Thursday\, May 4.   \nKalemba is a contemporary painter living and working in Orlando\, where he graduated with a bachelor of fine arts degree in 2016 and a master of fine arts in 2019 from the University of Central Florida. Specializing in acrylic and oil painting on a large scale\, he works as a muralist\, studio painter and instructor of drawing\, painting and sculpture at UCF. Kalemba’s work has been exhibited in more than 25 group and juried exhibitions regionally and locally\, where he has won multiple awards and recognitions\, including a two-year residency at the Maitland Arts and History Center from 2019-2021. \nA free opening reception will be held on Wednesday\, March 29\, at 12:30 p.m. for “The 2023 Student Art” Exhibiton”. \nThe Webber Gallery is located at the CF Ocala Campus\, 3001 S.W. DESCRIPTION:The College of Central Florida Musical Theatre department presents “Xanadu.” Performances times are 7:30 p.m. Thursday\, Friday and Saturday\, April 13-15\, and 3 p.m. Sunday\, April 16\, at the Dassance Fine Arts Center\, 3001 S.W. College Road\, Ocala. \nThe musical is based on the 1980 film\, which starred Olivia Newton-John as Greek muse Clio who calls herself Kira and inspires mortal Sonny to open the world’s first roller disco in an old Southern California theatre. CF’s production features a cast of 28 students\, including Kelli Piel as Clio/Kira and Jackson Reed as Sonny Malone\, with an array of goddesses\, sirens\, stunt skaters and poi dancers. \nThe musical score includes all the hits from the film\, including the Billboard No. 1 hit “Magic\,” originally recorded by Olivia Newton-John\, and integrates two classic Electric Light Orchestra songs\, “Strange Magic” and “Evil Woman.” CF’s set\, designed by Tyler Stentiford\, features two stunt skating ramps. \nTickets are $12 for adults and $6 for non-CF students and can be purchased by calling 352-873-5810 or visiting  cf.universitytickets.com.
