Mendenhall of the University of Florida Proton Therapy Institute. \nThe event will be held at the Ewers Century Center\, College of Central Florida (3001 S.W. College Road\, Ocala). Registration begins at 11:30 a.m. Seats are limited and reservations are required.  \nA University of Florida College of Medicine faculty member since 1985\, Dr. Mendenhall served as the chair of the Department of Radiation Oncology from 1993-2006. Named in several leading women’s magazines as one of the nation’s top doctors for women with cancer\, she has more than 20 years of experience and specializes in the areas of breast cancer\, Hodgkin disease\, lymphomas and pediatric cancers. \nShe has extensive experience in cooperative group trials (COG) and has produced more than 137 published works\, including articles in such publications as American Journal of Clinical Oncology\, Cancer\, and the Journal of the American Medical Association.

SUMMARY:Blackbird Bound: Visual Verses Exhibit
DESCRIPTION:Six local artists have re-imagined Wallace Stevens’ haiku-inspired poems “13 Ways of Looking at a Blackbird” in paintings and sculptures. \nVisual sensations in the poems and artworks include winter landscapes\, geometry and fairy tales.  All play with point of view and perception. This delightful exhibit displays selected artworks alongside Stevens’ poems\, pairing art with literature.  Open to students\, faculty\, staff and the community\, the exhibit runs through Oct. 28 during regular Citrus Campus hours.  This exhibit is located in Building 2\, Upper-Level Exhibit Space adjacent to the library\, and is made possible by the CF Foundation.

From the collection of Associate Professor Tyrus Clutter\, “Greater Than 17: the art and influence of Stanley William Hayter and Atelier 17” boasts over 150 works by artists from Stanley Hayter’s famed Atelier 17 printmaking workshop. Spanning movements and styles from surrealism to abstract expressionism\, formalism to pop art\, this collection features dozens of artists from all around the world. \nProfessor Clutter will be available at the opening reception to answer questions on the art and artists. A 40-page catalogue for the exhibition with essays on the collection and art historical context will be available for attendees to read. Finger food and drinks provided. \nAdmission is free.
