June 18, 2013

The College of Central Florida has unveiled the schedule for its 2013-2014 Performing Arts Series, which features theatre, magic, music, comedy and marionettes.

“Last year, we showcased some of the most popular performing artists from past seasons to help us celebrate 24 years of performing arts presented by CF,” said Dr. Jennifer Fryns, associate dean, Liberal Arts and Sciences. “To help us welcome the next 25 years, we wanted to take our audience on a journey of discovery of new and emerging artists.”

CF will host the “Clawgrass” music of Mark Johnson and Emory Lester, Friday, Sept. 6, at 7:30 p.m. in the Charles R. Dassance Fine Arts Center at the Ocala Campus, 3001 S.W. College Road. A second performance will be held Saturday, Sept. 7 at 7:30 p.m. at the Citrus Learning and Conference Center, CF Citrus Campus, 3800 S. Lecanto Highway, Lecanto. Their performance features a blend of bluegrass on banjo and mandolin. Johnson won the Steve Martin Prize for Excellence in Banjo and Bluegrass in 2012. Johnson, Lester and Martin performed together on The Late Show with David Letterman in 2012, and from there Johnson and Lester’s music careers have taken off with national and international bookings.
