The College of Central Florida has earned Tree Campus USA recognition for its dedication to campus forestry management and environmental stewardship. This is the fourth year that CF has been recognized.

CF met the five core standards of tree care and community engagement in order to receive 2012 Tree Campus USA status. The standards are establishing a campus tree advisory committee; providing a campus tree-care plan; dedicating annual expenditures on the campus tree-care plan; participating in an Arbor Day observance; and instituting a service-learning project to engage students.
The Arbor Day Foundation launched Tree Campus USA in fall 2008 by planting trees at nine college campuses throughout the United States.

After calculating energy usage for the first half of the 2010-2011 year, there is good news to report related to our college-wide goal of reducing energy consumption by another 3%. As of December 31, 2010, CF had used approximately 6% fewer kilowatt hours college-wide than we used during the first half of the previous year. Let’s stay focused on the “We use LESS” challenge and continue to look for ways to become more efficient. As a reminder, clicking on the link below will take you to the office sustainability strategies many of us have committed to implementing this year.

Survey Says...

The results of our employee survey regarding Sustainability is in. See how we're doing our part, and where we need to improve!

5% Energy Challenge Update:
After three-quarters of the 2009-2010 year, there is good news to report related to our college-wide goal of reducing energy consumption by 5%. As of March 31, CF had used 6% fewer kilowatt hours per square foot than we used during the first three quarters of the previous year. Let’s maintain our focus and continue to look for ways to become more efficient as we finish out this last quarter of the year. Hopefully, on June 30, we will have reached our goal for the year while also developing more sustainable energy consumption habits for the future.

Tree Campus USA colleges and universities strive to engage their student body as well as their broader community to establish and sustain healthy community forests for the benefit of current and future residents.

Going Green...
We are please to announce that beginning Monday, March 22, the Patriot Café will Go Green...

...meaning we will serve our in-dining room customers on dinnerware. This will help us reduce the amount of wasted styrofoam paper that is currently generated from this area.
This is just the beginning of doing our part for Sustainability!
If you will be taking your food out of the dining room we will provide appropriate containers.
