Promise of Sustainability
Overconsumption of our finite resources is pushing the earth’s ecosystems to collapse. Global warming, ozone depletion, deforestation, soil erosion, loss of genetic diversity and many other environmental problems are a direct result of our using the earth’s resources in nonsustainable ways. If the global community were to adopt the consumption patterns of the United States, we would need three times the current resources available. Between 1950 and 2000, Americans used more of the earth’s resources than everyone who ever lived on the planet before us. We urgently need to question how we use these precious resources.
Our future depends on the answer.
Join the CF Sustainability Taskforce and promise to move our nation to a more sustainable way of life.
Make Your Own Promise for Sustainability
- I need to change my patterns of consumption.
- I will work to reduce my impact on the planet, my country, state, local community, place of employment and home.
- I will strive to learn new ways to reduce my reliance on finite resources, and I will share this information with others.
