Physical Therapy Related Professional Organizations

American Physical Therapy Association

The American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) is a national professional organization representing more than 66,000 members. The APTA is the only national organization representing the profession of Physical Therapy. Its goal is to foster advancements in physical therapy practice, research, and education. Both physical therapist (PTs) and physical therapist Assistants (PTAs) can join the APTA.

Florida Chapter of the American Physical Therapy Association (FPTA)

Physical therapists (PTs) and physical therapist assistants (PTAs) who live in Florida and join the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) are also members of the Florida Chapter of the APTA or Florida Physical Therapy Association (FPTA).

Sections Within the American Physical Therapy Association

Sections are areas of interest within the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA). They are designed to provide a means by which members having a common interest in special areas of physical therapy may meet, confer, and promote the interests of the respective sections.

Student Assembly of the American Physical Therapy Association

The Student Assembly currently represents over 17,000 Physical Therapist and Physical Therapist Assistant students nationwide. The Assembly was created to serve the needs of students within the Association.

National Assembly of the American Physical Therapy Association

All physical therapist assistant (PTA) members of APTA are also members of the National Assembly of Physical Therapist Assistants, a component and membership grouping of APTA. The National Assembly represents Affiliate (PTA) members interests and views on a variety of issues.

Florida Board of Physical Therapy Practice

Graduates of the Physical Therapist Assistant Program at College of Central Florida must take and pass a state administered national examination in order to become licensed and eligible to practice. Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy (FSBPT)

This is the site for the organization that administers the licensing exam for both physical therapists and physical therapist assistants in the United States. Visit this site if you would like information about obtaining an initial license as a physical therapist or a physical therapist assistant.
