Printmaking Workshop for Adults
Saturday, Oct. 15, 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
Individuals collect artwork for a variety of reasons, but all art collections are somehow a reflection of the collector. Lasting Impressions: A Printmaker Collects provides insights into how one artist gathers the artwork with which he surrounds himself. CF Assistant Professor of Visual Art, Tyrus Clutter, has amassed a collection of etchings, drypoints, aquatints, lithographs, woodcuts, and other prints that spans periods from the 17th century to the present. The techniques are as diverse as the artists themselves. These artists hail from the United States, Italy, Germany, Britain, France, Norway, India, Argentina, and Columbia and include some of the biggest names in 20th century printmaking, like Kathe Kollwitz, Georges Rouault, and Edvard Munch. This exhibit follows the various paths of the collection including style, subject matter, and technique. Each has made a lasting impression on the artwork that Mr. Clutter produces himself.

FINE ARTS FOR OCALA (FAFO) formed in 1967 with the simple mission to promote the appreciation of the fine arts and to enhance art education in our community. With that vision in mind, a determined group of art lovers formed a nonprofit and began the Ocala Arts Festival. Their goal was to allow attendees to enjoy and purchase artwork in a variety of mediums and prices from professional artists across the country and around the world. The result of their work is a show that has grown in popularity and reputation and now is considered one of Central Florida’s premier fine arts show. As FAFO’s founding members envisioned it, the show provides gallery quality art with an opportunity to interact with the artists and most importantly, it introduces children to the wonder and magic of original art. This exciting exhibit is a sample of the fine art works FAFO has brought to our’ community and celebrates FAFO’s forty-fifth anniversary.
