GED Testing Program Information

The GED examination is comprised of five tests: "Language Arts Writing (two-parts), Language Arts Reading, Social Studies, Science, and a Mathematics exam (two-parts). All tests are multiple-choice, grid response, or written essay.

 

Official GED Test Passing Scores

Candidates who pass the GED Examination receive a State of Florida High School Diploma from the Florida State Department of Education. The passing scores are 410 on each of the five sub-tests with an overall minimum score of 2250. Test results are mailed to the candidate within 4-6 weeks from the test completion.

 

Official GED Practice Test

Applicants are strongly encouraged to take the Official GED Practice Test prior to taking the Official GED Examination. Results of the GED Practice Test give an excellent indication of potential success on the GED Examination and can identify any areas where scores could be improved. The Official GED Practice Test is free and can be scheduled at the Levy Center.

 

Application and Fees

Applicants for the GED Examination must apply in person and present the following at registration as well as present proper identification on the day of the test:

  • A valid State of Florida driver’s license or identification card.  Only government-issued, photo ID’s are acceptable.
  • A social security card.
  • Applications will be completed during registration.
  • Fees must be paid at the time of registration.  We accept cash, check or money order.
  • Applicants under 18 must present a recommendation from a valid adult education program.  Non-CFCC adult education students under 18 must be accompanied to registration by a parent or guardian.

The GED Examination costs $50.00 for the full battery of tests or $10.00 for each sub-test except for the Language Arts Writing sub-test which costs $12.00.
