Baseball Quick Facts

  • CFCC is located in the beautiful horse country of Ocala, Florida which is one hour North of Orlando, 2 hours south of Jacksonville, 1.5 hours north of Tampa and 35 minutes south of Gainesville, Florida.
  • CFCC plays on a top quality Major League sized diamond with lots of personality, which includes the Black Monster in left field and the Dugout Club VIP area over the home team dugout.
  • The Patriots play a 55 game spring schedule and a 20 game fall schedule in great weather.
  • The CFCC student apartment complex, College Square, is located just behind our centerfield fence.
  • The Patriots have placed over 50 players in professional baseball, including four in the Major Leagues.
  • Over 100 Patriot players have received scholarships to 4-year colleges and universities.
  • The Patriots have participated in eight state championship tournaments since 1991.
  • The Patriots are three time STATE CHAMPIONS of Florida (1980, 1997, 1998). The Patriots participated in two JUCO World Series in Grand Junction, Colorado (1997, 1998). The Patriots are the only team in Florida to play in four state final games in the last 11 years.
  • Patriots head coach Marty Smith has a record of 400 – 287-3 in his in his thirteen years at CFCC. Included in these wins are five Mid-Florida Conference Championships, two Gulf district Championships, and two Region VIII Florida Community College Activities Association Championships and two FCCAA State runner up finishes.
  • The Patriots have produced many professional draft picks including a fifth round draft pick, a seventh round draft pick, and a ninth round draft pick in the last 10 years.
  • CFCC offers a top quality education which is part of the state university/community college system in which an AA degree transfers to all of the four year institutions in the state of Florida.
  • CFCC takes pride in giving the student-athlete every opportunity to succeed in the classroom by offering study halls and a great tutoring program.
  • The Patriots travel by charter bus with TV /DVD to all away games.
  • The Patriots have a brand new two-tunnel batting cage that is covered and lighted and with covered pitching mound for practice in inclement weather and at night.
  • The Patriots are in the process of building a newly renovated locker room/clubhouse facility directly behind the Patriots home dugout.
