In her debut film, writer and director Stephanie Gauger illustrates a week in the separate lives of her characters — a flight attendant, a zoo employee, and a 10-year-old runaway. In the midst of Saigon’s 8 million residents, she utilizes their loneliness to form a unique connection.

The 2007 film is rated PG and runs for 97 minutes. “Owl and the Sparrow” is in Vietnamese and contains English subtitles.
