CF Performing Arts Series: Ballet Folklorico
(OCALA, Fla.) March 7, 2012 — The College of Central Florida Performing Arts Series will host Ballet Folklorico “Quetzalli de Veracruz” in April.
The Performing Arts Series event will take place on Sunday, April 15, at 3 p.m. at the Curtis Peterson Auditorium, 3810 N. Educational Path, Lecanto, and Monday, April 16, at 7:30 p.m. in the Dassance Fine Arts Center at the Ocala Campus, 3001 S.W. College Road. Tickets are $26 each.
“This company’s music is joyful and bright and really makes you move,” said Dr. Jennifer Fryns, CF director of Visual and Performing Arts. “But I think what moves me most is the visual presentation. The vibrant combination of color and rhythm really transports the audience.”
Established in 1985, this outstanding company has delighted audiences from Europe to Indonesia. Ballet Folklorico is an acclaimed traditional dance and music group, direct from Veracruz, Mexico. The Ballet Folklorico “Quetzalli” is a group composed of young people who love the traditions of their people expressed through music, songs, and dances characteristic of different ethnic groups. They create their interpretations through technical formation, bibliographical study and ritual observation.
