CF Comes Alive With 'Summer Spotlight XV' Exhibit

April 17, 2012

The College of Central Florida will showcase the talent of Visual Artists’ Society members in “Summer Spotlight XV” with the opening reception set for Thursday, May 17. Awards will be presented at the opening from 4:30-6:30 p.m. in the Webber Center at the Ocala Campus, 3001 S.W. College Road. Admission is free.

“Members of VAS are able to share their unique talents with others in this impressive exhibition,” said Eunice Fitzkee, gallery assistant for the Webber Gallery.

The Visual Artists’ Society represents working artists, retired artists, hobbyists and students. Approximately 50-60 works of art will be on display and most will be available for purchase.

Judge for the juried show is Stacey Breheny, an instructor of drawing, painting and design at Santa Fe College. Prior to teaching, Breheny worked for 20 years at the Florida Museum of Natural History specializing in murals. She maintains a studio in High Springs, where she said “I can still enjoy and paint lonely two-lane roads, farms and woods.”

The exhibit will be open through Saturday, June 23. Gallery hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Tuesday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday. The gallery is closed Sundays and Mondays. For additional information, contact Fitzkee at 352-854-2322, ext. 1664.
