Tim Ryan enters his eleventh season as the College of Central Florida men’s basketball coach on a school-record streak of eight consecutive appearances in the FCSAA State Tournament, including a National Championship win in 2012-2013. Ryan owns a career record of 232-94 and has won five Mid-Florida Conference championships since replacing Gene Smithson in 2003.

A former player at New York City's Power Memorial Academy and Wilkes College in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., Ryan's coaching career began in 1993 at Clearwater Central Catholic High School, where he spent four seasons coaching teams from the freshmen to varsity level. He was named head coach at St. Petersburg Catholic High School in 1997, and led the program to its first two Pinellas County Private School Tournament championships and the school's second and third appearances in the regional playoffs.

Ryan enjoyed similar results upon his move to the college ranks. He spent three successful seasons as associate head coach at Hillsborough Community College in Tampa, where he helped lead the Hawks to an average of 20 wins per season, two state tournament appearances, and a Suncoast Conference championship.

Ryan is also heavily involved with AAU and youth basketball. He guided the Clearwater Piranhas to a 256-54 record, 12 tournament titles and seven national tournament appearances in as many years, the only Florida team to qualify for the national tournament each year over that span. He has also coached at the prestigious Five-Star Basketball Camp in Pittsburgh, Pa., and Tallahassee. Ryan's work at CF extends beyond the basketball team, as he runs the popular Camp Patriot for local youth each summer and is the coordinator of CF's intramural sports program.

Ryan holds a Master's degree in psychology from National-Louis University. He and his wife, JoAnne, have four children, Tim, 25, Nicole, 24, Veronica, 19, and Tommy, 16.

Assistant Coach Lance Foreman

Lance Foreman

Patriots men's basketball coach Tim Ryan has added a fast-rising young coach to the CF staff in former NCAA Division II player and University of Central Florida graduate assistant Lance Foreman.

An Orlando native, Foreman played four years at North Carolina's Lees-McRae College, collecting all-academic honors and a Bachelor's degree in sports management.

Foreman launched his coaching career in 2007 as junior varsity head coach and varsity assistant at Gainesville's St. Francis Catholic High School. He spent the last two seasons on the staff of hometown Big East program UCF, serving as student manager in 2010-11 and graduate assistant last season. He earned his Master's degree in sports fitness from UCF in May.
