Getting Started In A Vocational Certificate Program

To get started in an Vocational Certificate Program at College of Central Florida, you'll need to follow our Eight Step Plan:

Step 1:  Application

Submit the CF application to the Enrollment Services Center, Bryant Student Union, Building 5, Room 102, or mail to CF Admissions and Records, 3001 SW College Road, Ocala FL 34474 with a $20 one-time nonrefundable fee.  You may also apply online by going to www.cf.edu and clicking on Apply.  Once you have applied, you will receive an acceptance letter.  Check our website for application deadlines.

Step 2: Transcripts

Have high school/GED and EVERY college/vocational school you have attended send an OFFICIAL transcript to CF Admissions and Records, 3001 SW College Road, Ocala FL 34474.  Most colleges charge a small fee and will not respond without payment.  Each transcript MUST come directly from your school to the CF Admissions Office via the mail.  Fax copies are not official documents.

Step 3:  Financial Aid

You may apply for financial aid online at www.fafsa.ed.gov (FAFSA is the Free  Application for Federal Student Aid). Use the 2007-2008 application for courses beginning the summer 2008 semester.  Please include CF’s federal school code, 001471, so that the results of your application will be sent to CF automatically. We recommend that you sign your application electronically, utilizing your PIN (www.pin.ed.gov), to expedite the processing of your application by the U.S. Department of Education.  Computers and staff are available to assist you with this process in the Enrollment Services centers.

Once the Department of Education transmits your information to CF, we will need approximately four weeks to process your aid.  You may be asked to submit additional documents to CF before processing can be completed.  Prompt response to our requests and rapid submission of required documents will allow us to process your aid quickly; nonresponse or late submissions will delay the processing.

You will need to apply to the College and submit official transcripts from your high school and all colleges you may have attended.  No aid can be processed for you until transcripts are received and evaluated at CF.

CF has best results deadlines each semester to facilitate processing of your aid.  If you meet these deadlines, you will be informed of your aid status before the start of the semester for which you applied.  You may view your financial aid status on your MyCF portal

If a student is enrolled in a vocational program and does not have a high school diploma or GED, the student must pass all sections of the CPT for that program in order to receive financial aid.  Only programs with 30 credit hours or more may be approved for financial assistance.

Step 4:  Testing

Register at the Ocala Campus Career Development, Assessment and Testing Center for the TABE (Test of Adult Basic Education) or CPT (Computerized Placement Test), Bryant Student Union or call 352-854-2322, ext. 1564 (Ocala Campus), 352-746-6721, ext. 6168 (Citrus Campus), or 352-493-9533, ext. 2101 (Levy Center).  Basic skills remediation is available in Building 13, Room 100, on the Ocala Campus.

Step 5:  Registration

Vocational Certificate seekers are not required to complete orientation. However, if/when you change your status to degree seeking, you will be required to complete an orientation/ registration session.

Step 6:  Payment

Fees are due in full by the due date shown on your fee statement (10 business days from the date of registration or the first day of the semester, whichever is sooner).  Nonpayment of ANY fee results in all classes being dropped and re-registration is on space available basis.  Fees may be paid on line at our web site www.cf.edu or at the Cashier on the Ocala Campus, Bryant Student Union, Citrus Campus, Building L1, and at the Levy Center. Contact the campus of your choice to determine the hours of operation.

Step 7:  Bookstore

To determine which books you need, bring your class schedule to the Book Store on the south end of the Ocala Campus, Building 36, 352-861-4412.
NOTE:  Tools are not paid for through financial aid.

Step 8: Parking Decal & PhotoID

Bring a copy of your paid fee bill to Security, next to the Bryant Student Union, for your parking decal and photo ID.

If you have any problems completing these steps or have further questions, please stop by the Enrollment Services Center, Ocala Campus, (Bryant Student Union, Room 102) or Admissions, Citrus Campus, (Building L1) or the Levy Center.
