MCB 2010C Microbiology with Lab (4) Prerequisite: BSC 2010 or BSC 2085C or CHM 1032 or CHM 1025 or CHM 2045 or CHM 2046 or CHM 2210 or CHM 2211 Classification: Parallel A study of microbiology that emphasizes effects of microorganisms on human systems. Topics will include microbial cell structure, function and metabolism; requirements for and control of growth; genetics, mutations, and biotechnology; a survey of bacteria, viruses, algae, fungi, protozoa and helminthes; interactions with and impact of microbes on humans, including mechanisms of pathogenicity. (3 hours lecture and 2 hours laboratory per week) |
