Forensics

What is Forensics?

  1. “Forensics” comes from Aristotle – which means to debate the guilt or innocence of an individual.
    1. “Forensics” (in college) better known as Speech and Debate, is the study of oral interpretation (acting), public address, limited preparation speech and debate.
  2. Members can compete in two areas of forensics:
    1. Individual Events: 11 total in 3 genres: Public Address, Oral Intrep & Limited Prep.
    2. Debate: 2-on-2 (or partner) debate (aka NPDA debate).
  3. Overall, forensics offers an exciting opportunity to be a part of a winning team and develop skills that will make you more competitive throughout college and your career. As part of the team, you will work with other highly motivated students who work on speeches and debates, researching and practicing in preparation for competition against schools from the area and from throughout the United States.
