CF Forgives $333,351 in Student Debt

CF allocated institutional dollars from the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund to give the students a clean slate in their educational pursuits. In addition, CF has distributed more than $6 million in HEERF directly to students during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“CF is committed to helping students reach their educational goals, and in a year when many students and their families have experienced unusual financial stress, the debt forgiveness is a unique opportunity to help keep our students on track with their education,” said Dr. Jim Henningsen, CF president. “Money should never be a barrier to higher education, and we are fortunate that we can support our students in this way.”

CF Webber Gallery Presents ‘Time Will Tell’ Exhibition

The artworks consist of screen printing on atypical materials, along with encaustic painting, and objects cast in glass, aluminum and iron.

There is no charge to view the exhibition at the Webber Gallery, 3001 S.W. College Road, Ocala. Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Thursday.

Goloborotko is a multidisciplinary artist and master printmaker who engages in a relentless auto-ethnographic examination of contemporaneous issues as a form of resistance and poetic activism. Utilizing symbols of intransience, impermanence and stasis, Goloborotko makes works that are changeable, shifting, active and unsettled. This exhibit questions the status of the environment and political structures, among other things, as the artist asks us to, “Wander around the sculptures and the prints. Take a well-deserved pause, and ask yourself, honestly, where do you find yourself right now?”

Goloborotko has exhibited installations, works on paper, sculpture, videos and interactive projects in more than 200 exhibitions in museums and galleries on four continents, and yet has remained firmly committed to community. Her printshops in Jacksonville and Sherman, Pennsylvania, are print and poetic activism sites, empowering first-time printmakers with hands-on workshops and developing the visions of mid-career artists with portfolio production and instruction.

For additional information about the exhibition, call the gallery at 352-854-2322, ext. 1664.

Appleton Museum Exhibits Drawings, Paintings by Andrew M. Grant

On view in the Balcony Gallery for Florida Artists, Grant’s paintings and drawings of the female form are inspired by the four elements; earth, air, fire and water. His representational works integrate surrealism, myth and legend to depict women in meditative states that invite the viewer into the narrative.

Andrew Maurice Grant was born in Montego Bay, Jamaica, and migrated to the United States at an early age. Immersing himself in creative outlets all his life led him to taking classes in Art History at the University of Central Florida and eventually taking formal art classes at Crealdé School of Art.  While there, he gravitated to classes and workshops taught by Terry Norris, who specialized in oil painting. Grant then relocated to study with Carol Broman, and there he was introduced to more rigorous techniques of drawing and painting. He has participated in numerous group exhibitions and solo exhibitions and currently teaches at Crealdé School of Art. He lives in Orlando with his wife and two children.
