Citrus Nursing Students

The CF Foundation, in partnership with the Citrus County Hospital Board, has established an $11.7 million endowment to support nursing education for Citrus County residents. Starting August 2024, students admitted into the Associate Degree Nursing program at CF’s Wilton Simpson Citrus Campus or the Ocala Campus will receive scholarships covering in-state tuition and lab fees. CF’s nursing program was ranked No. 1 in Florida by RegisteredNursing.org.

“The challenges of recruiting and training qualified nurses remain at the forefront of our community’s needs,” said Dr. Jim Henningsen, CF president. “Thanks to the Citrus County Hospital Board’s contribution and additional state support, CF is able to put those funds where they’re needed most – to pay tuition and lab fees for the local students who receive admittance to the Associate Degree in Nursing program. We are immensely grateful for this opportunity to make a comprehensive, high-quality nursing education accessible to an even greater number of students within our community.”
To qualify for the scholarship, students must be Citrus County residents and complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid and the CF Foundation scholarship application annually. The program, which is competitive and requires a secondary application, anticipates supporting up to 50 nursing students each year.
