About
This 77-credit-hour Associate in Science degree in Cardiovascular Technology offers two tracks: invasive cardiovascular technology and non-invasive cardiovascular technology.
The first track prepares students to become Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialists. Invasive CVT’s work in the field of interventional cardiology where they assist physicians during procedures performed in sterile, team environments, that use x-ray equipment to view equipment that is invasively placed in order to diagnose and treat cardiovascular disease.
The non-invasive track prepares students to become Registered Cardiac Sonographers. Non-invasive CVTs work in the field of diagnostic cardiology in an area called echocardiography. Though usually working independently performing ultrasound imaging of a patient’s cardiovascular system, they may also assist physicians during more complex imaging procedures that may be minimally invasive.
Students will be eligible to take the Cardiac Credentialing International (CCI) examination for RCIS: Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist or RCS: Registered Cardiac Sonographer in the last semester of the program.
This program is pending accreditation and the first class is anticipated to begin spring 2025.
This is a limited access program, with additional criteria for program admission and course registration.
