About
The Associate in Science degree in Respiratory Care prepares individuals to perform invasive, noninvasive, and peripheral examinations of the cardiopulmonary system at the request of physicians to aid in diagnoses and therapeutic treatments.
The program utilizes traditional classroom instruction supplemented by laboratory practice and simulations, and supervised clinical practice where the student gains real-world experience evaluating and treating patients with cardiopulmonary distress and disorders.
Progam includes instruction in reviewing and recording patient histories and clinical data, patient care, investigative and examination procedures, cardiopulmonary health assessment and resuscitation; therapy administration, equipment operation and monitoring, and professional standards and ethics.
This is a limited access program with additional requirements beyond the general CF admissions processes. Full-time classes are scheduled to begin Fall 2024, but general education classes can be started Spring 2024.
The College of Central Florida is currently in the process of seeking CoARC accreditation for a respiratory care program. However, the college can provide no assurance that accreditation will be granted by the CoARC.
